This Morning
Sitting in the rocking chair, our cat snuggled into my lap, I meditate. I don’t look for a door or a temple or anything. I am receptive to whatever may come. After some time, a Japanese farm house comes into view. The sliding doors are made of rice paper, as would be expected, and the house is in a grassy field. I recognize three rooms and begin to venture forward, but then the image goes away. Back into the starry darkness, I begin hearing the song “Fields of Joy” by Lenny Kravitz, over and over. As I settle into the soundtrack, I see glimpses of ocean up close for a moment, and then a higher aerial view where I see land and deep blue water below, and a sense like you and I are flying over the landscape together, no sense of time, it’s just happening.
Fields of Joy by Lenny Kravitz Let's wander slowly through the fields Slowly slowly through the fields I touch the leaves that touch the sky Just you and I through fields of joy All trouble slowly fades away Slowly slowly fades away I hold your hand inside my hand Across the land through fields of joy The sound of music that we hear The blend of colors in the air All cities, mountains disappear from view All truth and beauty near to me and you With you through the fields With you through the fields With you through the fields The fields of joy Let's wander slowly through the fields Slowly slowly through the fields I know our love will never die Just you and I Through fields of joy Through fields of joy Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: H. This Evening
I meditate again, this time with music in headphones. It helps me connect a little more. I see a white, sunny, pool deck and calm water flowing. Beyond the pool deck steps form and as I ascend them, I realize this is the temple growing into view, high above the pool deck. While I recognize there should be three rooms, on the left the average outcome, on the right the fear outcome, and in the middle the miraculous outcome, I notice there are not three rooms– just one– because I already collapsed the left and the right. If I look for them, it is giving them energy which I’m not supposed to do. I allow myself into the miraculous room, curious what I might see, and the ocean is in here too. Why do I keep seeing the ocean? I don’t know, but it’s soothing to me.
